It is intimated that the industry is small scale zinc plating red category unit. The industry was granted consent to operate under Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 vide no. CTOW/Fresh/LDH2/2017/6132406 dated 07.09.2017 and under Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 vide no. CTOA/Fresh/LDH2/2017/6132323 dated 07.09.2017, upto 30.06.2018 for production of zinc plating of cycle parts/auto parts @ 2.5 TPD.
Now, industry has applied for renewal of consent to operate under Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 alongwith documents through OCMMS.
Accordingly, the industry was visited by Er. Ravdeep Singh, AEE of this office on 28.07.2018 and observed that:-
1. The industry was in operation.
2. The industry is engaged in electroplating (zinc plating) process of cycle/auto parts on job basis by installing 03 barrels.
3. The industry has signed agreement with M/s JBR Technology Pvt. Ltd., Ludhiana @ 5000 Ltr/Month for the treatment & disposal of trade effluent generated from electroplating process.
4. The industry has installed water meter at pipeline from where fresh water is consumed in process and the reading was noted to be 42.69 KL.
5. The water auditing for the industry was done. As per record the reading was 17.48 KL on 01.01.2018. As such the industry has consumed about 25.21 KL of fresh water in the year 2018. The industry has got lifted 23.5 KL of effluent till date to the M/s JBR Technologies Pvt. Ltd, Ludhiana.
6. The industry has provided one storage tank of capacity 2000 ltr for storage of its trade effluent and about 1300 Ltr. effluent was lying stored at the time of visit.
7. The industry has maintained the record of water consumption in process as well as effluent lifted by M/s JBR Technology Pvt. Ltd., Ludhiana.
8. The industry is discharging only domestic effluent into sewer.
9. The industry has not installed any DG set in its premises.
The industry is situated in New Janta Nagar which is industrial mix zone area as per Master Plan, Ludhiana. Now, the Board has issued order vide no. 21 dated 08.06.2018 regarding continuation of operation of Industrial establishments in mixed Land use/non-designated area of Ludhiana upto 15 years from date of notification of the master plan which were established before the notification of the Master Plan, Ludhiana.
Keeping in view of the above, it is recommended that consent to operate under Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 may be granted upto 30.06.2023 with usual conditions.
