Environmental Engineer, Regional Office, Patiala has reported in compliance to online directions dated 01/08/2018 that the industry was visited on 10.08.2018 and found in operation. Stack emission samples from the stack attached to the zinc smelting furnace and zinc sulphate manufacturing reactor respectively were collected and the analysis report received from Board’s lab on 23.08.2018 reveals that the conc. of particulate matter is 66 mg/Nm3 against 75 mg/Nm3 (zinc smelting furnace) and from the port hole on the common stack attached to reactors (2 no.), Acid mist is ND against 50 mg/Nm3. Further, the concentration of SO2 could not be recorded due to some technical error in the automatic flue gas analyser . In view of the report/recommendations given by RO, if approved, renewal of consent to operate under the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 may be granted to the industry upto 30.09.2023 with suitable conditions and specific condition that the industry shall operate its APCD attached to the zinc smelting furnace regularly and efficiently in order to achieve the prescribed emission standards at all the times, please. |
