It is intimated that the industry is small scale red category unit. The industry was granted consent to operate under Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 vide no. CTOW/Fresh/LDH2/2018/7168995 dated 06.03.2018, upto 05.09.2018 for manufacturing of U-Bolt @ 0.8 TPD alongwith temporary restoration of electric connection for six months and directed to seal the zinc plating machinery installed by the industry on the first floor vide Zonal Office-1, Ludhiana letter no. 1125-28 dated 01.03.2018.
Thereafter, the industry was visited by the officer of this office on 01.06.2018 and the zinc-plating machinery i.e. 03 barrels were sealed.
Now, the industry has applied for renewal of consent to operate under Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 through OCMMS and has also requested to remove seals applied on zinc plating machinery.
It is intimated that the site of the industry was visited by Er. Ravdeep Singh, AEE of this office on 01.09.2018 and it was observed that: -
1. The industry was in operation and engaged in the process of manufacturing of U-Bolts.
2. The industry has installed one pickling section and its reading was noted to be 24.56 KL.
3. The industry was last visited on 28.02.2018 & its reading was 18.94 KL. As such industry has consumed 5.62 KL & got lifted 06 KL to CETP operator. The industry has provided storage tank of size 1500 Ltr. for its pickling section & about 700 Ltr. was stored in it.
4. The industry has made agreement with re-processors of spent acid i.e. M/s JBR Technologies Pvt. Ltd (Unit-II), Kohara, Ludhiana @ 1500 Ltr./Month for its spent acid.
5. The industry has installed one zinc-plating section on its first floor and was lying sealed.
6. The industry has provided new water meter and its reading was noted to be 0.28 KL.
7. The industry has made agreement M/s JBR Technologies Pvt. Ltd, Ludhiana @ 2000 Ltr./Month for its trade effluent generated from zinc plating section.
8. The industry has provided zinc plating tank of size 2000 Ltr.
9. The industry has maintained the record of water consumption in process as well as effluent lifted by M/s JBR Technologies Pvt. Ltd.
10. The industry is discharging only domestic effluent into sewer.
11. The industry is complying with consent conditions granted to it.
12. The site of the industry is located in Industrial Area-B, Ludhiana.
Keeping in view of the above, it is recommended that consent to operate under Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 may be renewed to the industry for six months with usual conditions and additional conditions that:-
1. The zinc plating section of the industry may be de-sealed.
The electric connection of the industry may be restored for further six months.
