• The industry is an existing unit and was granted consent to operate under the Water Act, 1974 and Air Act, 1981 for production of cotton yarn @ 17743 TPA, which was valid upto 30.09.2018 with certain conditions mentioned therein. Now the industry has applied for renewal of consents to operate under the Water Act, 1974 and Air Act, 1981. The industry was visited by the undersigned on 09.09.2018 and following observations were made –
• The industry was in operation for the spinning unit.
• The industry has installed rotary air filters as Air Pollution Control Devices in the industry.
• The industry has installed Sewage Treatment Plant for treatment of domestic effluent. Total manpower working in three shifts presently is around 550 persons/day and total domestic effluent @ 70 KLD is discharged onto land for plantation for which the industry has developed 1.5 acres of land as per karnal technology.
• From the above it is clear that industry is complying with the provisions of the Water Act, 1974 and Air Act, 1981 as well as conditions of consents granted to it under the Water Act, 1974 and Air Act, 1981.
Recommendations
Keeping in view of above it is recommended that the consents to operate under the provisions of the Water Act, 1974 and Air Act, 1981 may be granted to the industry upto 30.09.2023 with suitable conditions. |
