File Note: Sub:- Application for obtaining for fresh of authorization under Bio Medical Waste Rules, 2016- M/s Salwan Hospital, Opposite-Power House, Gurudwara Guru Nanak Puri, G.T. Road, Dhariwal, Tehsil & District-Gurdaspur. It is submitted that the hospital has applied for fresh authorization under Bio-Medical Waste Rules, 2016 along with consent to operate under Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 & Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 through OCMMS for 30 beds. Earlier, the authorization was granted to the HCF vide No. BMW/Fresh/GRP/2023/21785899 dated 02/05/2023, which is valid upto 31/03/2028 for 15 beds through OCMMS. It has submitted Undertaking regarding Bed Capacity of 30 Beds, location plan and copy of the agreement with Common Bio-Medical Waste Carrying facility. Now, the HCF has applied for authorization Bio Medical Waste (Management) Rules, 2016 through OCMMS for increasing the total bed capacity upto 30 beds. The HCF has deposited Rs. 10,000/- vide UTR No. N083232384354374 dated 24/03/2023 & now deposited Rs. 3000/- vide UTR No. IOBAN24161288092 dated 09/06/2024 under Bio Medical Waste Management Rules, 2016 fee, which is valid upto 30/09/2029. The HCF has entered into an agreement with M/s Bio-Medical Waste Treatment Plant Pvt. Ltd. Village- Pangoli, Pathankot for collection, transportation, treatment and disposal of Bio-Medical Waste generated by it, which is valid upto 31/07/2026. The Hospital was visited by officer of this office on 13/06/2024 and observed as under:- 1. The hospital comprising of 30 beds. 2. The hospital has installed effluent treatment plant for treatment of its effluent generated from hospital premises and treated effluent is being discharged into sewer. 3. The HCF has provided color coded bins for collection/segregation of Bio Medical Waste, segregation of BMW found proper as per color codes. 4. The HCF has provided needle destroyers for shredding of needles. 5. The HCF is maintaining the record of Bio Medical Waste lifted to CBWTF. 6. During visit the representative was advised to install water meter at the outlet of the ETP and to maintain record regarding operation of ETP. In view of above, it is recommended that authorization under Bio Medical Waste (Management) Rules, 2016 may be granted for a period upto 30/09/2029 subject to suitable conditions.
