The project was granted authorization under the Hazardous & Other Wastes (Management & Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2016 for category 5.1 @ 1.540 KL/Annum vide no. HWM/Fresh/SAS/2019/9776708 dated 11.07.2019, valid till 31.03.2024 with certain conditions.
Now, the project proponent has applied renewal authorization under Hazardous & Other Wastes (Management & Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2016 for category 5.1 @ 1.540 KL/Annum along with requisite documents.
The industry was visited by AEE of this office on 13.06.2024 and it was observed as under:
1. The industry is a commercial project having mall, residential towers, and IT blocks.
2. The two no. DG sets of capacity 1010 KVA each have been installed in the premises of IT Block A and have been provided in an acoustic enclosure. Further, there are two no. DG sets of capacity 500 KVA each installed in the premises of residential group housing project, which have been provided with canopies and stacks of adequate heights. The promoter company has also installed two no. DG sets of capacity of 1010 KVA each for the mall & multiplex building.
3. The unit has provided two no. hazardous waste storage rooms one in the 2nd basement of mall and other in the basement of the IT blocks.
4. The unit has provided lock and key arrangement for these rooms and has provided danger sign board on it.
5. The unit is maintaining the record of the hazardous waste being generated during the service of the generators.
6. The industry has stored 20 ltr of used oil i.e category 5.1 in its hazardous room. The industry has signed an agreement with M/s Aggarwal Mfg. Company, Plot no. 10, Focal Point, Ludhiana for lifting of hazardous waste under category 5.1. The project has submitted the manifest wherein 1200 ltrs of hazardous waste is lifted by vide manifest no. 1172 dated 10.03.2023.
In view of above, if approved, it is recommended that the authorization under the Hazardous & Other Wastes (Management & Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2016 for generation, collection, storage and disposal of hazardous waste category cat 5.1 @ 1.540 KL/Annum may be granted for a period of five years to the industry subject to the suitable conditions.
