File Note:  The industry was granted consent to operate under the Water Act, 1974 & the Air Act, 1981 vide no. CTOW/Renewal/FDK/2021/17217932 & CTOA/Renewal/FDK/2021/17217920 dated 20.12.2021, valid upto 30.09.2025, respectively. Same had been revoked / cancellation by the Competent Authority vide Board's letter no. 2858-59 dated 20.06.2024  Now, the industry has applied for fresh authorization under the Hazardous Waste (Management, Handling & Trans-boundary Movement) Rules, 2016 for category 6.2, 35.1 & 35.3 of Schedule-I for activities generation & storage. Details of which as under: 1. The industry submitted an agreement executed on 02.06.202 on the name of M/s Metalac Industries with M/s Nimbua Greenfield (Punjab) Ltd., Village Nimbua, Distt. Mohali for safe disposal of its hazardous waste of category 6.2 (Zinc Ash), 35.1 (APCD Dust) of Schedule-I. 2. The industry has submitted copy of annual return in form-IV w.r.t. hazardous waste generated within the premises as on 01.06.2024. 3. The industry has submitted undertaking regarding proprietorship of the firm. 4. The industry has submitted copy of manufacturing process. 5. The industry has submitted copy of site plan.  The industry was visited by the officer of this office on 20.06.2024 and it was observed that: 1. The industry was in operation with its 01 no. induction furnace melting process and 02 no. galvanizing furnace process. 2. The industry was generating hazardous waste of category 6.2 from the galvanizing process with wet scrubber as APCD and category 35.1 as flue gas emission dust from the induction furnace APCD i.e. twin cyclone followed by bag house. It has also maintained the records of energy meter installed with APCD. The industry has also stored ETP sludge category 35.3 in hazardous room. 3. The industry has provided an impervious room of size about 4.5’X13.5X8’ with lockable gate and permanent roof at top for storage of hazardous waste. Storage capacity of the room is adequate for a period of more than one year. 4. The industry has provided sign board indicating ‘Danger’ & ‘Hazardous waste’ at the front wall of the storage facility. 5. The industry has provided environmental data board at the front wall of the storage facility. 6. The industry has last lifted ofhazardous waste category 6.2 zinc ash of schedule-1 weighing 158.80 kg andcategory 35.1apcd dust of schedule-1 weighing 326 kg on 14.11.2022.The industry has currently no stock of hazardous waste in the storeage facility as there is less generation of hazardous waste after lifting on 14.11.2022. 7. The industry is complying with the provisions of the Hazardous Waste(Management, Handling & Trans-boundary Movement) Rules, 2016. Recommendations : In view of the above, it is recommended authorization under the Hazardous Waste (Management, Handling & Trans-boundary Movement) Rules, 2016 may be granted for generation & storage of hazardous waste of category 6.2, 35.1 & 35.3 of Schedule-I for a period of five years, subject to the suitable conditions.
