• It is intimated that the hospital is having 100 beds capacity hospital.
• Earlier, the HCF was granted authorization under Bio Medical Waste (Management & Handling) Rules, 2016 expired on 31.03.2024.
• Now, the hospital has applied for renewal of authorization under Bio Medical Waste Management Rules, 2016 for 100 beds and detail of the same is as under:-
1. The hospital has deposited authorization fee Rs. 25000/- vide UTR No. BARBX24074419548 dated 14.03.2024 under Bio Medical Waste (Management & Handling) Rules, 2016 adequate upto 31.03.2029.
2. The hospital has submitted MOU signed with M/s Meridian Milieu, Ltd, Bir Pind, Jalandhar for treatment and disposal of its Bio-Medical Waste valid upto 27.12.2025 for 100 beds.
• The hospital was visited by the AEE of this office on 04.07.2024 and it was observed that:-
1. The hospital having 100 bed capacity as per certificate Submitted by the hospital.
2. The hospital has provided colour coded bins at various locations as seen during the visit.
3. No mixing of Bio-Medical Waste with Municipal Solid Waste was observed during visit.
4. The hospital has provided lock and key facility/room for storage of final Bio-Medical Waste from where it is lifted to CBWTF.
5. The hospital has provided needle shredders at various locations which were in operational condition.
6. The hospital has maintained record of bio medical waste generated & lifted to CBWTF.
7. From the record it is clear that the hospital is regularly getting its Bio-Medical waste lifted to CBWTF.
8. The liquid waste is being pretreated with 10% Sodium Hypo Solution and then through ETP before discharge into sewer. The effluent samples of the hospital was collected from final outlet of ETP and sent to Zonal lab, Jalandhar for analysis and the results are awaited.
9. The hospital is complying with the provisions of Bio medical Waste Rules, 2016.
Keeping in view of the above, it is recommended that authorization under Bio Medical Waste Management Rules, 2016 may be granted up to 31.03.2029 after co-relating with analysis report with usual conditions as per policy of the Board and with special condition that:-
1 This authorization under Bio Medical Waste (Management & Handling) Rules, 2016 is valid for 100 beds only.
2 The HCF shall get lifted/handed over its Bio-Medical Waste generated to the Common Bio-Medical Waste Treatment Facility on daily basis.
3 The HCF shall obtain other statutory approvals required from other departments, if any.
4 The HCF shall submit annual return of every year.
5 The HCF shall get the validity of agreement made with Common Bio Medical Waste Treatment Facility extended well before its expiry and submit the same to the Board.
