File Note:  It is intimated that the hospital has applied for obtaining fresh authorization under Bio Medical Waste (Management & Handling) Rules, 2016 for 15 beds, detail of the same is as under: 1. The hospital has deposited authorization fee Rs. 6000/- Vide UTR no. P184240332694946 dated 02.07.2024 under Bio Medical Waste (Management & Handling) Rules, 2016, adequate upto 06.01.2026. 2. The hospital has submitted MOU signed with M/s Meridian Milieu, Ltd, Bir Pind, Jalandhar for treatment and disposal of its Bio-Medical Waste valid upto 22.01.2026 for 15 beds. 3. The hospital has submitted self declaration and lifting slip with the application.  The hospital was already visited by AEE(OS)-2 of this office on 29.06.2024 and observed that: 1. The hospital is having 15 bed capacity during visit, 2. The hospital has provided color coded bins at various locations inside its premises. The segregation was found proper. 3. The hospital has provided final room with lock and key facility for storage of Bio-Medical Waste. 4. The hospital has provided needle shredder. 5. Bio-Medical Waste is being lifted by CBWTF and the HCF has maintained the record of the same as the HCF has submitted the manifest slips. From the record, it is clear that the HCF is regularly lifting its Bio-Medical waste lifted to CBWTF. 6. The HCF has Bio-Medical Waste is lifted by them except liquid waste and the liquid waste treated with Sodium Hypochlorite Solution. 7. As per office order No. 379 dated 27.10.2023 by the Board it has been decided that HCFs up to 30 bed capacity which are discharging their liquid waste into public sewer and operating within MC limits of towns, where terminal sewage treatment plants (STPs) have been installed, shall be granted consents to operate under the Water Act, 1974 and the Air Act, 1981 as well as authorization by Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) without installation of individual ETPs, as an interim arrangement, subject to the condition that HCFs shall ensure to comply with the effluent standards as notified by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change under Bio Medical Waste (Management & Handling) Rules, 2016 upto date and subsequent amendment if any. 8. The HCF is complying with the conditions under Bio Medical Waste (Management & Handling) Rules, 2016. Keeping in view of the above, it is recommended that the fresh authorization under Bio Medical Waste (Management & Handling) Rules, 2016 may be granted upto 31.12.2025 with usual conditions as per policy of the Board and with special condition that:- 1 This authorization under Bio Medical Waste (Management & Handling) Rules, 2016 is valid for 15 beds only. 2 The HCF shall got lifted/handed over its Bio-Medical Waste generated to the Common Bio-Medical Waste Treatment Facility on daily basis. 3 The HCF shall obtain other statutory approvals required from other departments, if any. 4 The HCF shall submit annual return of every year. 5 The HCF shall get the validity of agreement made with Common Bio Medical Waste Treatment Facility extended well before its expiry and submit the same to the Board.
