The industry is engaged in the process of weaving, printing and washing of fabric and embroidery. Earlier the industry was found violating the provisions of Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2016 during the visit on 18.02.2022 accordingly directions u/s 5 of the Environmental Protection Act, 1986 were issued to disconnect the electric connection of the industry. Thereafter the industry had removed all the discrepancies w.r.t Hazardous and Other Wastes Rules and after verifying the same directions u/s 5 of the Environmental Protection Act, 1986 were issued to restore the electric connection of the industry temporarily upto 19.01.2023 vide Board's letter no. 4926-28 dated 20.07.2022 and thereafter restored temporarily upto 05.04.2024 vide Board's letter no. 6012-14 dated 09.10.2023………………………………..
Now the industry has applied for renewal of Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2016 for category of 35.3 @ 180 TPA, cat. 33.1 @ 2400 no/annum, 37.3 @ 150 T/Annum & Cat. 5.1 @ 0.4 KL/year…………………………………..
Regional Office reported that the industry was visited on 23.05.2024 & reported that the industry is complying with the provisions of Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2016………………………………...
Regional Office reported that no hazardous waste is dumped / stored at both sites mentioned under complaint. Further, the industry has removed all violations observed earlier during the complaint and on the basis of the same electric connection of the unit has been restored twice in the past. Now, industry is storing its hazardous waste in a dedicated separate room and is maintaining the record regarding generation and disposal of hazardous waste of all categories. The industry is now complying with the provisions of the Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2016………………………………...
Regional Office has reported that the industry has been visited thrice since the disconnection of the electric connection on 02.08.2023, 12.09.2023 and 23.05.2024 and all three times industry was found complying with the provisions of Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2016, hence as per the protocol electric connection of the unit can be restored permanently………………………………...
As proposed by Regional Office, may if approved:
1. Renewal authorization under Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2016 may be granted to the industry for category of 5.1 @ 0.4 KL/Annum, 33.1 @ 2400 Number/Annum, 35.3 @ 180 T/Annum and 37.3 @ 150 T/Annum upto 30.06.2029 with the special condition that the industry shall keep lifting its hazardous waste of all categories regularly and shall maintain the record regarding generation and lifting of sludge.
2. Directions u/s 5 of Environment Protection Act, 1986 may be issued to restore the electric connection of the unit permanently………………………………...
