RO has reported that the authorization under Bio Medical Waste (Management & Handling) Rules, 2016 for 100 beds was granted vide online reference no. BMW/Fresh/PKT/2023/22023124 dated 24/05/2023, which is valid upto 30/06/2028 through OCMMS 100 beds. Now, the HCF has applied for obtaining fresh authorization under Bio Medical Waste (Management & Handling) Rules, 2016 for 100 beds. The hospital has already deposited Rs. 25,000/- vide UTR No. SBIN423129247601 dated 09/05/2023 & now deposited Rs. 5000/- vide UTR No. IOBAN24176317001 dated 24/06/2024 as authorization fee, which is adequate upto 30/09/2029. The Hospital was visited by the undersigned on 04/07/2024 and observed as under:- 1. The hospital comprising of 100 beds engaged in the process of providing medical services. 2. The hospital has installed treatment plant for treatment of its effluent generated from hospital premises. 3. The HCF has provided color coded bins for collection/segregation of Bio Medical Waste, segregation of BMW found proper as per color codes. 4. The HCF has provided needle destroyers for shredding of needles. 5. The HCF is maintaining the record of Bio Medical Waste lifted to CBWTF. 6. The hospital has installed ETP cum STP for treatment of liquid waste and after treatment same is discharge onto land for plantation/irrigation. 7. The HCF has provided STP, which was in operation. 8. The hospital has installed a D.G. Set of capacity 200 KVA, which is provided with canopy and stack of adequate height above roof level. It is further intimated that the HCF has made an agreement with CBWTF for 100 beds for the lifting of its Bio-Medical Waste, which is valid upto 28/03/2026.
RO has recommended that the authorization under Bio Medical Waste Management Rules, 2016 may be granted for 100 beds upto 30/09/2029 with the special condition that the HCF shall comply with Bio Medical Waste Management Rules, 2016.
In view of above, it is recommended that the authorization under Bio Medical Waste Management Rules, 2016 may be granted for 100 beds upto 30/09/2028 with the special conditions as under:-
1. The hospital will get effluent sample (combined liquid and domestic effluent) analyzed from Board’s lab within 01 month.
2. The hospital will renew its agreement time to time made with Common Bio Medical Waste Treatment Facility well before its expiry and submit the copy of same in Regional Office.
3. The HCF shall comply vide Head Office, no. 468 dated 31/08/2021 issued by Punjab Pollution Control Board.
