The HCF has applied authorization under BWM Rules, 2016. It has submitted Site plan/location plan and copy of agreement with Common Bio Medical Waste Carrying facility and Compliance report of previous Authorization, detail of liquid waste. The HCF has entered into an agreement with by M/s Medicare Environmental Management Pvt Ltd, Ludhiana for collection, transportation, treatment and disposal of Bio-Medical Waste generated by it. The HCF has submitted various documents attached with the application in PDF format, which may kindly be pursued. As per the new Bio Medical Waste Management Rules, 2016.
As per the Head office order no. 379 dated 23.10.2023, the Board has been decided that HCFs up to 30 bed capacity which are discharging their liquid waste into public sewer and operating within MC limits of towns, where terminal sewage treatment plants (STPs) have been installed, shall be granted consent to operate under Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 as well as authorization by Punjab Pollution Control Board(PPCB) without installation of individual ETPs.
The HCF has deposited Rs. 5000/- vide no. IOBAN24176347062 dated 24.06.2024 which is adequate upto 5 years i.e. 30.06.2029.
The HCF was visited by officer of this office on 09.07.2024 & following observations were made:-
1. The HCF was in operation during the visit & it is a 10 bedded hospital.
2. The HCF has signed an agreement with the common facility M/s Medicare Environmental Management (P) Ltd., Ludhiana for lifting of its Bio-medical Waste.
3. The HCF is adopting the proper color-coding as per Bio-medical Waste (Management) Rules, 2016& segregating its Bio-medical Waste as per Biomedical Waste (Management) Rules, 2016.
4. The HCF has provided 01 no. needle shredder & sharp waste was handled in punctured proof container.
5. The HCF is maintaining record of BMW generation & the lifting of Biomedical Waste to M/s Medicare Environmental Management (P) Ltd., Ludhiana.
6. As per document submitted by the HCF, Liquid waste generated from HCF is treated with 1% sodium Hypo-chlorite & is discharged into sewer.
7. The HCF has submitted copy of discharge of effluent into sewer.
8. The hospital has provided Lock & Key facility with final storage room for Bio-Medical Waste.
If approved, the validity of authorization under Bio-Medical Waste Management Rules, 2016 may be granted upto 30.06.2029 with suitable conditions as per policy of the Board please & with special condition that the HCF will apply for obtaining fresh authorization if its increase in bed capacity.
