RO reported that the industry was granted authorization under Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2016 for Generation, Collection, Storage & Disposal of Hazardous Waste Cat. 5.1 @ 0.210 Kl/Annum, Cat. 33.1 @ 90 Number/Annum and Cat. 5.2 @ 0.0015 KL/Annum vide no. HWM/renew/ASR/2020/13159215 dated 04/08/2020, valid upto 03/08/2025 under the name and style of M/s Imerys Minerals (india) P Ltd , I/s Khanna Paper Mills Ltd, Fatehgarh Churian Road, Amritsar. Now the industry has applied for fresh authorization under Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2016 Cat. 5.1 @ 0.210 Kl/Annum, Cat. 33.1 @ 90 Number/Annum and Cat. 5.2 @ 0.0015 KL/Annum under the name and style of M/s Artemyn (India) P Ltd I/S Khanna Paper Mills Ltd, Fatehgarh Churian Road, Amritsar. The industry has made an agreement with a facility namely M/s Nimbua Greenfield (Punjab) Limited, Tehsil- Dera Bassi, Mohali (Membership No. 2333) for the lifting of Hazardous Waste of category 5.2 and 5.1. The industry has also made an agreement with M/s Surya Chemicals, Distt Mohali as recycler for lifting of HW Cat 33.1, which is an authorized recycler of the Board. The industry was visited on 27/10/2025 and it was observed as under: - 1. The industry has provided a Hazardous Waste storage room of size 8’x6’ for category 5.1 & 5.2 and size 10’x10’ for category 33.1 2. The industry has marked danger sign on the door of HW storage room. 3. The floors of the Hazardous Waste room were impervious. 4. The Hazardous Waste room was lockable. The industry falls in Orange category in medium-scale sector and competency to decide the case lies with the Chief Environmental Engineer, Jalandhar.
RO has recommended that fresh authorization under Hazardous and Other waste (Management & Transboundary Movement) Rules 2016, for Generation, Collection, Storage & Disposal of Cat. 5.2 @ 0.015 T/Annum, Cat. 33.1 @ 90 Numbers/Annum and Cat. 5.1 @ 0.210 KL/Annum may be granted to the industry for the period of five years with suitable conditions.
In view of the above, it is recommended that fresh authorization under Hazardous and Other waste (Management & Transboundary Movement) Rules 2016, for Generation, Collection, Storage & Disposal of Cat. 5.2 @ 0.015 T/Annum, Cat. 33.1 @ 90 Numbers/Annum and Cat. 5.1 @ 0.210 KL/Annum may be granted to the industry for the period of five years with suitable conditions along with following special conditions:
1. The industry shall dispose off hazardous wastes of all categories to concerned authorized companies on regular basis and shall not store hazardous waste of any category more than 03-months in the premises.
2. The industry shall maintain the records regarding generation/storage and disposal of hazardous wastes of all categories as per provisions of the Hazardous Waste Management Rules, 2016.
3. The industry shall re-new its agreement with recycler before the expiry of the same.
4. The industry will submit the annual report on yearly basis.
