RECOMMENDATIONS: -
The industry is a medium unit, which was granted authorization under the Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Trans-Boundary Movement) Rules, 2016 vide no. HWM/Renew/FGS/2023/24271728 dated 18/12/2023, valid upto 30/09/2025 for generation, collection, storage & disposal of hazardous waste Cat. 35.1 @ 90.0 TPA & Cat. 5.1 @ 0.050 KL/Annam.
Now, the industry has applied for renewal authorization under Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Trans-Boundary Movement) Rules, 2016 for generation, collection, storage & disposal of hazardous waste Cat. 35.1 @ 90.0 TPA and 5.1 @ 0.050 Kl/ Annum along-with requisite documents through OCMMS.
Earlier, the industry was granted consent to operate under the Water Act, 1974 vide no. CTOW/Renewal/FGS/2025/30064759 dated 03/11/2025 valid upto dated 31/03/2026 and under the Air Act, 1981 vide no. CTOA/Renewal/FGS/2025/30064613 dated 03/11/2025, valid upto 31/03/2026 for the manufacturing of Billets (With CCM Plant) @ 84.0 MTD and H.R.Coils(Patra) etc.(With Rolling Mill section without reverberatory furnace)@ 84 MTD.
The industry was earlier visited by the undersigned on 22/09/2025 and it was observed as under:
1. The industry was in operation and engaged in the business of manufacturing of Steel Ingots @ 84 MTD.
2. The industry has installed 1 no. induction furnace of capacity 7 TPH which was in operation.
3. The industry has installed spark arrestor followed by bag filter houses as APCD to control the air emissions from the furnace as per design evolved by PSCST, Chandigarh, which was also in operation. The industry has also obtained completion certificate from PSCST, Chandigarh vide no. 113 dated 07/05/2019.
4. The industry has also installed CCM (Concast machine) and 01 rolling mill.
5. The stack emission sample was earlier collected on 27/01/2025 from stack attached to induction furnace and as per the analysis results, the concentration of SPM is found to be 60 mg/Nm3, which is within the permissible limits laid down by the Board.
6. The industry has installed one no. DG set of capacity 125 KVA, which is equipped with canopy and stack of adequate height.
7. No water is used in the process, so no trade effluent is generated.
8. Domestic effluent is discharged onto land for plantation/Irrigation after passing through septic tank.
9. The industry is complying with directions/suggestions of PSCST, Chandigarh given in SOPs for operation of APCD and is maintaining the required data.
10. The industry has also appointed its Works Manager/Foreman to take care of the SOPs.
The site of industry falls in industrial zone as per the Master Plan of Mandi Gobindgarh. The industry is complying with Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Trans-Boundary Movement) Rules, 2016.
In view the above, it is recommended that authorization for generation, collection, storage & disposal of hazardous waste (Cat. 35.1) @ 90.0 TPA and cat. 5.1 @ 0.050 KL/Annum may be granted to the industry i.e 31/03/2026 with suitable conditions.
