RECOMMENDATIONS: -
It is submitted that the subject cited industry is a small-scale induction furnace unit under orange category. The industry was granted consent to operate under the Water Act, 1974 vide no. CTOW/Renewal/FGS/2025/29006778 dated 14/07/2025, valid up to 30/09/2029 & the Air Act, 1981 vide no. CTOA/Renewal/FGS/2025/29006715 dated 14/07/2025, valid upto 31/03/2026 for the manufacturing of Alloy and Non-Alloy Steel Ingot/Billet (with CCM) @ 140 MT/day.
Now, the industry has applied for obtaining authorization under Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management & Trans-boundary Movement) Rules, 2016 for generation, collection, storage & disposal of hazardous waste (Cat. 35.1) @ 95 TPA and category 5.1 @
0.020 KL/annum.
Accordingly, the industry was visited by the AEE of this office on 12/11/2025
and it was observed that:
1. The industry was in operation during the visit.
2. The industry has installed 1 induction furnaces of capacity 10 T/heat with CCM and rolling mill. 3. The industry has installed induction furnace for manufacturing of Alloy and Non Alloy Steel Ingot/Billet/ R.C.S/ Rounds/Bars/ Flats/ Square/Bloom by using Melting Scrap, Sponge Iron & Ferro Alloys as raw material.
4. The industry has provided spark arrestor followed by bag filter house as APCD.
5. The industry has installed energy meter on its APCD and its reading was 6765.3Kwh x 40 factor. 6. The industry has installed 1 no. D.G. set of capacity 250 KVA with canopy and stack of adequate height.
7. The industry has installed continuous ambient air quality monitoring system.
8. The industry has maintained its plantation area.
9. Domestic effluent being generated by the industry is discharged onto land for plantation after passing through septic tank.
10. No water will be used in the process; therefore, there will be no generation of trade effluent.
11. The industry has installed 03 no. of water meters on its submersible pumps and their readings were 6553 KL, 5509 KL & 3177 KL.
12. The industry has lifted its APCD dust under hazardous waste category 35.1 to M/s R.P.Multimetals ltd(Unit-2) @3.340 MT vide M. No. 341 dated 24/09/2025, @3.480 MT vide M. No. 268 dated 22/08/2025 and about @ 5.710 MT APCD dust remained stored in the industrial premises.
The site of industry falls in industrial zone as per Master Plan of Mandi Gobindgarh. The industry is complying with the provisions of Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management & Trans-boundary Movement) Rules, 2016.
In view the above, it is recommended that authorization under Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management & Trans-boundary Movement) Rules, 2016 for generation, collection, storage & disposal of hazardous waste under Cat. 35.1@ 95 TPA and Cat. 5.1 @
0.020 KL/annum may be granted upto 31/03/2026 with suitable conditions.
