File Note: It is submitted that M/s Swami Premanand Charitable Hospital, Hoshiarpur has applied for Bio-Medical Waste (Management) Authorisation under the Bio-Medical Waste Management Rules, 2016. The hospital was earlier granted BMW Authorisation vide BMW/Renewal/HSP/2025/28765826 dated 05.05.2025, valid up to 31.03.2027, in the name S.P.N. Charitable Hospital. The present application has been submitted to update the name of the hospital back to “Swami Premanand Charitable Hospital” on the BMW authorisation certificate. The application was scrutinized. It is observed that no change in bed capacity (100 beds), infrastructure, BMW handling system, storage arrangements, or treatment arrangements has been proposed. The case pertains only to name updation, and the applicant has submitted the required documents including earlier authorisation, request letter, bed capacity certificate, agreement, BMW application form, and name-change request. Further, as guided, the representative Sh. Vivek has been informed, and necessary action has been initiated by intimating the Computer Section to update the industry type from “Government Hospital” to “Private Hospital.” The fee deposited earlier — ₹15,000/- vide UTR No. CLBLN25045004591 dated 15.02.2025 — remains adequate up to 31.03.2027. It is further submitted that during the previous renewal (vide BMW/Fresh/HSP/2025/28477356), the BMW compliance status was examined, and during the visit conducted on 09.12.2024, the following observations were recorded: 1. The HCF has 100 beds. 2. The facility consists of Male Medical Ward, Female Medical Ward, Labour Room, Operation Theater, Emergency Ward, ICU, Nursing Station and Laboratory. 3. Colour-coded buckets and containers were provided at all waste-generating points as per BMW Rules, 2016. 4. Segregation of bio-medical waste was found proper and compliant with BMW Rules, 2016. 5. Needle destroyers and sodium hypochlorite solution were provided at all relevant wards. 6. The HCF had maintained records for lifting and disposal of Biomedical Waste. 7. Awareness charts depicting BMW segregation instructions had been displayed. 8. A lifting station/storage area for BMW was provided. 9. The HCF had provided an Effluent Treatment Plant, and the treated effluent was being used for plantation within the premises. Based on the above, the hospital was granted BMW authorisation for 100 beds up to 31.03.2027. Since the present application is only for updating the name of the hospital, and no changes have been made in operations, BMW generation, or treatment infrastructure, the earlier compliance status remains valid. In view of the above, it is recommended that Bio-Medical Waste Authorisation under the Bio-Medical Waste Management Rules, 2016 be re-issued up to 31.03.2027 in the name: “Swami Premanand Charitable Hospital” with existing and suitable terms and conditions. (Competency lies with SEE)
