It is submitted that the industry is Large Scale, Red Category, Induction and rolling furnace unit .The industry was earlier granted HW authorization valid upto 14/10/2025. for category 5.1 @ 3.6 KL/year & category 35.1 @ 7.2 TPA and granted consent under Water Act, 1974 vide no. Date of issue: 21/08/2025 Date of expiry: 30/06/2030 & under Air Act, 1981 Date of issue: 21/08/2025 Date of expiry: 31/03/2026 for production of WIRE ROD @ 360 Metric Tonnes/Day, STEEL BILLET @ 378 Metric Tonnes/Day with 03 no. electric Induction furnaces of capacity @ 05 ton/heat each and 01 no. electric Induction furnaces of capacity @ 06 ton/heat. ................. The industry was recently granted CTE/NOC for expansion vide no. CTE/Exp/PBIP/LDH-I/2025/2509798195 dated 30.09.2025 valid upto 10.09.2026 for production of wire rod @ 497 MTD and Steel Billet @ 510 MTD by using iron scrap/sponge iron @ 524 MTD, ferro- alloys @ 6 MTD and Steel Billet @ 507 MTD as raw material……………………………Ro reported that ……………The Industry has provided undertaking in the regional office dated 10.11.2025 that it has applied under varied category due to increase in amount of HW category 35.1 – Exhaust Air or Gas cleaning residue because of import of Heavy melting scrap. The annual statement submitted by the industry also shows 35.1 category Hazardous waste generated to the tune of 25 Tons. The Industry has got its HW lifted to Authorized recyclers @ 26.08 Tons during the last year. …………………………..The industry has an agreement with Jogindra Castings Pvt. Ltd. Mandi Gobindgarh for lifting of its HW waste of category 5.1. The recycler has authorization No. HWM/Fresh/FGS/2022/19571887 issued on 29.09.2022 valid till 28.09.2027………………Also, Industry has recently made agreement with Satkar Oil Co., D-177, Phase VI, Ludhiana for category 5.1 i.e. used oil……………………………..
In view of the above, it is recommended that authorization for generation, storage & disposal of hazardous waste for cat. 5.1 @ 3.6 KLA & HW cat. 35.1 @ 25.0 TPA may be granted to the industry for five years with suitable conditions as per policy of the Board please.
The competency to decide the authorization lies with Chief Environmental Engineer of the Board, Ludhiana being a medium-scale unit. |
