Visit:
Accordingly, the industry was visited by the AEE of this office on
24.10.2025. During the visit, it was observed as under:
1. The industry was in operation and engaged in the business of
manufacturing of Steel Ingots & Castings.
2. The industry has installed induction furnace of capacity 6.5 TPH and 1 no.
LRF furnace of capacity 07 TPH which was in operation.
3. The industry has installed side hood suction followed by spark arrestor
attached with filter houses as APCD to control the air emissions from the
furnace as per design evolved by PSCST, Chandigarh, which was also in
operation.
4. The industry has also installed 1 no. Vacuum de-gasifier.
5. The industry has installed 01 DG set of capacity 600 KVA, which is
provided with canopy and stack of adequate height.
6. The domestic effluent is discharge into public sewer and entire Cooling
water is being recirculated.
7. The industry has installed only one Annealing furnace of capacity 10TPH
respectively and PNG is being used as fuel.
8. The industry has made an agreement with M/s Aggarwal MFG co. for
lifting the hazardous waste. During visit Cat 35.1 appx. 1380 Kg and Cat 5.1
appx 67 liter was remained in the premises.

The industry has registered itself on Centralized National Hazardous
Waste Tracking System (NHWTS) developed by CPCB for tracking the
generation, transportation, Storage, recycling, utilization, and disposal of
hazardous waste.
Recommendation
In view of the above, if approved it is recommended that the renewal of
authorization under the Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Trans-
Boundary Movement) Rules, 2016 for the Generation, Collection, Storage, and
disposal of Cat. no. 35.1 @ 3.82 T/Annum and Cat. no. 5.1 @ 0.20 KL/Annum
may be granted upto 31/03/2026 as per consent validity with suitable
conditions and special conditions as under:
1. The industry shall dispose off its Hazardous waste to the authorized recycler
/re-processor having valid Registration Certificate-cum-Pass Book from
Punjab Pollution Control Board and valid authorization of the Board under
the said Rules and 'consents to operate' under the Water Act, 1974 and the
Air Act, 1981.
2. The industry shall apply for authorization before the expiry of previous
authorization of Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and
Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2016.
3. The industry shall handle the Hazardous Waste(s) strictly in accordance with
the provisions of the Hazardous & Other Wastes (Management and
Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2016 and guidelines issued by Central
Pollution Control Board / Ministry of Environment & Forests and Climate
Change, New Delhi.
4. The occupier/operator of a facility shall send annual returns to the Board in
form-4 on or before 30th day of the June following to the financial year to
which that return relates.
5. The Authorized person shall report, about the accident which occurs at the
hazardous waste storage/treatment site immediately to the Board.
6. An occupier who is generating hazardous waste shall store his waste category
wise on site in environmentally sound manner till its treatment.
7. An occupier /generator shall not store hazardous wastes in open ground. It
must be stored in an isolated site away from plant operational area.
8. The storage good condition and made of (or lined with) an appropriate material
that does not react tank/container of the hazardous wastes should be in with
the waste contained in it and can withstand the physical and environmental
conditions during storage and handling.
9. The occupier generating hazardous waste shall provide the required safety
devices like safety mask, goggles, hand gloves, gum boots, etc. to the workers
for handling the hazardous waste. The occupier shall impart training to the
personnel/workers for handling and storage of hazardous wastes.
10. The occupier shall be responsible for any damage of life/or property during
storage of his waste and will obtain Public Liability Insurance, wherever
applicable.
11. In case the industry fails to comply with the above conditions of authorization
as well as provisions of the Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and
Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2016 and/ or any other environmental law
applicable to the industry and Rules, Circulars & Directions issued by the
Board from time to time, the Board shall constrain to take action against the
industry under the provisions of the Pollution Control Laws. |
