The applications for Consent to Operate (CTO) were scrutinized, and it was observed that the industry was previously granted CTO under the provisions of the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 for the production of Parboiled Rice @ 187 MT/day, Steam Rice @ 187 MT/day, and Rice Bran @ 42 MT/day using Paddy @ 576 MT/day as raw material.
Now, the industry has applied for a varied CTO for the production of Parboiled Rice and Steam Rice @ 234 MT/day and Rice Bran @ 19.2 MT/day using Paddy @ 360 MT/day as raw material.
It is observed that while the quantity of raw material has been reduced, the proposed production capacity has been increased, which appears to be practically objectionable and technically inconsistent. The same requires clarification.
Therefore, you are hereby requested to clarify the above discrepancy within the stipulated time period. |
